Yes, good luck Ceramics. Anyone know who is playing this year? I thought they were improved last year, and hopefully have continued to work hard.

Well...........half way through the season and not alot of improvement. The team looks the same today as they did the first game of the season. I see a good group of girls, and a bad bunch of coaches. The JV head coach has her head in the clouds. I believe her coaching skills are below average. She does not communicate with the girls well, or shall I say she does not communicate at all with the girls. Sorry to be so nagitive about this but this coach is doing more harm the this program then good........I hope the A.D. steps up and teaches her how to coach.

Haven't been to many of the games, but the JV coach certainly has the skills and knowledge of the game. Could it be we haven't really been coached before?

Re: Crooksville Volleyball

She may have the knowledge and skill of the GAME. But you need alot more then that to be a GOOD coach. She does not rotate the girls, I saw her bring a girl off the bench to serve, we were in the 2nd game and this girl had not played at all that night, and the coach sends a cold player into serve. Needless to say, the girl did not serve well at all........JV coach does not make good coaching decisions.......

Re: Crooksville Volleyball

it is kinda funny that the coaches get blamed for everything. either they have a bad group of coaches in the schools sports or there is no one else to blame. i have no opinion but i do know its alot easier to coach from the stands than it is on the floor. we see everything and think we know everything but in reality none of us could prolly do a better job than what is being done.

You know the problem that Crooksville is having is the same problem that other schools and other sports are having ,everyone is pointing the finger at everyone else and not looking in the mirror at the real problem and that is ourselves , the kids nowadays dont have the pation ,or the desire that it takes to become a great team ,and Im not talking about open gyms ,practices ,weightlifting , Im talking about the work in the back yard in rain ,in the snow extra conditioning extra work with mom and dad in the back yard ,how many pick up games do you see kids having in your local neighborhood ,havent seen one in mine for almost 10 years and there was some kinda game year round even when I was in high school some 20 years ago , the kids nowadays are on the computer or there text messaging there BFF, so to blame the coaches who only have one year contracts ,and know if they dont win they will not be coaching that long is INSANE, so look up into your monitor ,that is the person who is to bame ,and I am one of thse people ,but Im trying to change mybe you should to.

bball, That describes some people, no doubt. Maybe go down behind Blackers and watch the football games with the kids that dont play for numerous reasons. Look at the bball court across from Sideliners at the players there that wont play for the school. Some of course is just not wanting to be invlolved, but alot is because of the problems with the systems that everyone on here wants to bash the people trying to point out the real issues. Talking on here doesnt fix anything of course, but alot of posters on here are pointing out what they have found out from the coaches and AD. The backyard games are going on, but with the kids that like to play the sports, not the kids that play with the school and the politics.

maybe its just the way people our know a days ,but the disrespect that you people show ,the coaches and the AD and the Principals and the school board members you would have to be half insane to take one of those positions thank god that there are still a few,and mark my word your school and alot others will not have winning season after winning season until everyone starts putting the team before the individual ,no matter how it affects the idividual and with open enrollment the smart parents will put there kids in a more positive positions at other schools ,so good luck to all of the atheletes, coaches, ads, pricipals, and schoolboard members ,I might not agree with you 100% but you still have my support

Re: Crooksville Volleyball

I have attended v-ball games in the past (not too many recently), But honestly, I blame the parents. Parents now a days are so quick to jump on coaches if they so much as raise their voices at the kids. Coaches and teachers has to be so politically correct, that they really can't do their job effectively. I know lots of coaches (personally) and have been a coach. Parents want to whine about what little Timmy is or isn't doing. The parents seem to think they know where their kids should play, how many times they need to carry the ball, where the cheerleader should stand....IT'S BULL! It's in every sport and until the parents just let the coaches do their job, the programs won't change. I am a parent, I have felt the frustrations of coaches decisions. But it is ultimately their decision. When I was coaching, I was frustrated with the parents constantly giving or yelling their two cents worth. Concerned that maybe I wasn't making everyone happy, my wise 10 year old repeated to me what her 14 year old brother had said.... "To be a good coach, you always aren't going to be liked and everyone will not always agree with you, but if you are a good coach, you will have the respect of your players/cheerleaders and that is something you can work with". This comment has gotten me through many of the practices and games, however the respect of the parents is something that is still missing. Until you have walked an inch (a mile is way too far and it really won't take long) in a coaches shoe, you will never understand. But what I am asking, is you may not understand, but at least show some respect and let them TRY to do their jobs. I agree with whoever said that the dedication isn't there. Kids these days have lots of demands on them, but they need to realize that without dedication and time, wins will not be handed to them. Good-luck v-ball and I hope for if its not a winning season, you'll have a learning season. Any team can be beaten any given day, it depends on who wants the win more and who is willing to go full force the WHOLE GAME!

Not going to comment to much on the coaching situation, mainly because I have not been to a single match yet this year.
But, to touch on some comments made by others concerning all of the complaining about the coaching(this includes all sports). Without going into to much detail, There have been several administrative changes implemented this school year. Along with the personel changes, some responsibilities(athleticly speaking) have been re-assigned. Parents no longer have easy accesibility to the AD or the coaches. Top level administration has been sending out a strong message that the coaches are calling the shots. And, might I add, it's about time. This pretty much leaves the MVL forum as one of just a few "places" where mom and dad can vent about the coaching. And,ceramicmom...I couldn't find a single statement in your post that wasn't true. I know, have been coaching for quite a few years now myself. 99% of the parents that get on here and whine about their kids coaches wouldn't last 1 hour if the program was suddenly handed to them. The other 1% would walk away before then. |

Re: Crooksville Volleyball

i can personally say i know squat about v-ball, I have watched 3 matches this year and enjoyed every one. No matter how much you whine about the coaches, these young ladies bust their tails on the court and are very entertaining to watch. Their is alot of skill don't get me wrong but alot of this game is luck also and right now c-ville is on the wrong end of the stick. All I can say is keep workin girls, you've gained a few more fans from my house!

I have heard that the freshmen volleyball has been cancled fro the rest of the year.If this is true why do they still get to host the tourny at Crooksville if they have no team? Not complaining just want to know whats going on at there school.

Re: Crooksville Volleyball

Magoo,
I heard there was some discipline imposed on some CR VB players (pretty harsh under the circumstances IMO, but I don't know the story, and only a few do) and that led to holes on the FR and JV teams. You gotta have 6 and they don't. Lifew is tough Every school in the MVL gets to host some kind of post-season event, and CR gets the FR VB tournament. Now some years, there are not enough teams to hold it, so be glad CR is taking the time and effort to host the thing. |

Re: Crooksville Volleyball

By the way, I got to see CR the other night, and while they have a lot of work to do, they show some promise IMO.
Look, the top of the MVL is a tough nut to crack, even if it does not have a great reputation as a VB league. I would not be surprised of they win some tournament matches if they play up to their best. They have to be more efficient on offense, and play better defense in the back. But they have potential. |
