I see the Basketball standings ending up looking an awful lot like the football standings...
1. West 2. Sheridan 3. Tri-Valley 4. Maysville 5. John Glenn 6. Philo 7. New Lex (getting better) 8. Crooksville 9. Morgan (will they win a league game??) "If practice makes perfect, and no one is perfect, why

Bluedevil 90... Morgan will win a game, actually quite a few. This is going to be a different team this year than last. I hope the majority of teams do keep
underestimating them. You need to remember football and basketball are two different sports. What happens on the football field will not happen on the
basketball court! Besides this Morgan Senior class has beaten Crooksville and New Lex the past 2 years, as well as the 07-08 year beat TV, JG, West, New Lex,
Crooksville, Philo, Maysville and Sheridan. So, I am not sure how you think they rank last. Counting down until the first tip off. Good Luck
Raiders!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kick some butt on the court this year!

A lot of individual scoring was lost (Osborn, Ayres, Lewellen, Crader, T. Williams, Fraunfelter, Karling, W. Smith) as well as a couple of pretty good point
guards (Butler and Cox). While this year's senior class won't have the scoring capacity as this group, we have a couple of classes that should fit
together well at several schools. Team ball and balance should win out over the individual statistics of last year. We may not know until tournament time if
that equates to better.
There are probably 6 teams that could beat each other on a given night. 1. Tri Valley - The king is not dead until someone slays him. Clay Cameron will lead this group after being out a year. Lepi and Max Kilgore will man inside. Bice and the Schley boys at the guards. Michael McConnel and Rhys Jonard should contribute as juniors. Coach M has some new athletes out. Can he find a hidden gem like he did last year in the big guy? 2. John Glenn - Dangerous team with Heagan, Crawford and Metry on what will probably be the league's best frontline. Who will step up to fill the guard slots? A couple of JV guards from last year will need to step up. Coach Woodard always gets his boys to play physical basketball. 3. West M - Four of last year's top seven return including seniors Austin Brock, Cohl Secoy, Chris Brown, 6'5", and Will Lenhart. This is classic addition by subtraction from last year. This will be a much better defensive team. Brock should have a chance to have a strong scoring year. Performance of two juniors (one real big, Don Click at 6'5"; one small, Jordan Wilson) might determine how this team ends up. Senior Ty Coward and juniors Parker Wahl and Eric Riley should contribute as well. 4. Sheridan - Big, physically strong and athletic. They will see a lot of zone slanted toward Anthony Crane. Josh Busby, at 6'"6", must progress and Troy Sweeney must get healthy for this team to succeed. Jacob Horsley should have a strong sophomore campaign and CJ Myers is a real good athlete. No true point guard and will be susceptible to pressure. Limited outside shooting outside of Anthony. 5. Maysville - Will have some size but, won't be as athletic overall as last year (will miss Cox). Huddleston will be a tough match-up and should have a great year. Brandon Ray, at 6'5", is probably the most athletic big in the league. JC Murasky, at 6'5" must be able to score. Landon Israel must be able to handle the ball for this team to be successful. A couple of sophomores (Brown and Bryce Sidwell) should get a chance to contribute. This team will see some zone defense as well and must find some outside shooting outside of Huddleston. This is the team I have the most problem with projecting. Could definitely be higher. 6. New Lex - Hard-working team that is more skilled than most will realize. The Wohlenberg boys will bring a lot of intensity and energy. Going to NL, always tough, will give a lot of teams a headache this year. Capable of beating anyone in the league on a given night. 7. Philo - This coaching staff gets a lot out of their talent and gameplans well. Philo will be small and have some athletes but, will probably struggle to put a lot of points on the scoreboard. 8. Crooksville - I really thought Crooksville would turn the corner last year but, didn't. Some solid, scrappy athletes. 9. Morgan - I saw Morgan's varsity, JV and freshman teams play last year. Teddy Vynalek is very solid but, not certain if he can carry this big a load. Lack of direction from the bench will limit the ability of this group to improve. |

Tornado Transplant,
Your descriptions of the teams are spot on in my opinion. But i would have them in a slightly different order, but like you said the top 6 teams can go any way. This will be one of the most competitive leagues we've had in awhile, can't wait till watch |

Thanks TC.
Though I'd give TV and JG an advantage to win the league, you could put the top 6 in a hat and draw them out and may not be too far off. I believe the group that plays best as a team will win it. You've got 15-20 decent ballplayers out there this year. |

Basketball season is here. I'll be in the gym for roughly 12 hours the next two days. That bouncing basketball can't come soon enough.

It is absolutely, completely, irrevocably basketball season. Football teams in the area have completed their seasons. As the late, great OSU basketball coach,
Fred Taylor, said on numerous occasions: "It's time for playing with a ball that bounces true."
