I think Sheridan boys would have finished 4th in the other district race . Sheridan was the 6th seed if you combine both districts if you go by times only .
Sheridan for sure got a good draw by getting in the first district race .

I agree with that 100%.
I looked on baumspage, and I'm not real sure they would have made it.(5th place I think?) So probably some luck behind it. But, never the less, they move on.
This will hurt someone.

Not luck , thats why they place teams using the seeding process !! Sure if you put 5 of the top 6 seeds in one race Sheridan doesn't make it , but they
don't do that . Trade Sheridan with one of the top 4 teams in the 2nd race and Sheridan gets out as the 4th seed . Doesn't matter , they placed the
teams in the districts by seeding them and Sheridan made it out . I guess this is just a way for people to not give credit for Sheridan boys making it to the
Regionals for the 4th year in a row . I guess Circleville was lucky too , if you put them in the first race with Unioto , they don't get a district
championship !!

No I wouldn't consider that luck, just Unioto being better.
They should just put all the teams together and let them battle it out.

they take a total of 8 teams from our district location and Sheridan happens to be one of them . Like it or not , Sheridan was the 6th best team at Rio , and
they are going to Troy to run at the Regionals ! NLfan555, Sorry it is so hard for you to say good job Sheridan and good luck instead of trying to point out
what ifs ! Good luck to all the MVL runners that are running this Saturday .

I agree Goldenhorde it is a shame that the team deserving anything is questioned I guess it was just luck to have 4 MVL championships for Sheridan this year

Well, this is the second go around for me considering the last post I tried to submit was erased for some unforeseen reason probably related to the ever
trustworthy Windows... shoulda got a Mac.
I am a fan of having one race. One champion. If it were up to me I would ignorantly have everyone race at once and sort out the rest later. Luckily it isn't up to me and after having to qualify 8 teams out and 32 individuals THEN determine who goes to Troy and who goes to Pickerington isn't my job. The OHSAA has attempted and failed, but still follows the plan, to create "balanced" regionals. This is just another shortcoming of that system that you criticize NLFan555. Sometimes it is frustrating, but the bottom line is 8 teams still qualify out regardless of the system. Whether 4 and 4 or 8 straight. The Generals coach (boys = not me) made the best decision for his squad. Every other coach has the same opportunity to choose a section of the District Championships. Some before others based on their "seed". Regardless, I am not sure what is so upsetting here. If I was from New Lex I would be proud that a team in both the boys and girls was represented. I also look forward to the day we have to beat the Panthers in order to be District Champions. Perry County has way too many good athletes to just be known for football. Recruit those Junior High kids down there and lets race! |

I was not really down grading Sheridan, I was just stating that I would like to see one race and onc champ. Sheridan is good, damn good, but I was just saying
that they would not have placed as high if the races were put together and I was not sure if they would have made the cut or not.
This will hurt someone.

I think its great seeing that this topic ( Sheridan Cross Country ) is only a little over 100 views behind the Sheridan Boys Basketball topic !! I love to
see the sport of Cross Country continue to grow with enthusiasm every year at Sheridan !! Special thanks to the coaches , starting with the Godfather of
Sheridan cross country , Gary Whetherholt , and the new blood coaches JD Walters and Bart Smith !!! I want to say a big thank you to all of you coaches for
the time and effort you have given both of my sons that have ran for you guys !! I will be forever grateful for what you have given them teaching them about
cross country and given them life lessons on hard work and determination and what it will do for you down the road in life !!! Thanks so much ! I know you
have made both of my sons lives better and that means so much as a parent to watch them grow with the help of great coaches and friends ! I will truly miss
the Sheridan Cross Country family next year with my youngest graduating next spring , but I will forever be a Sheridan Cross Country fan and will attend the
meets in years to come to support our kids and coaches that work so hard . It sounds corny , but thanks for the memories : )
