I LOVE baseball talk! even in the middle of football season....
Not sure about other teams yet, but Sheridan loses alot...ALOT from last year. The only returning players from last years roster are Forgrave (3b/1b), Cremeans (CF/P) and the 2 Horsley brothers (catcher and SS). A handful of last years JV's will have to step up big time this upcoming spring. My guess is Philo and TV will be near top again as their coaches seem to have things going in the right directions. Not sure what JG and NL have coming back but typically they have athletes that will compete with anyone. I think Maysville and Crooksville may surprise some folks as I think they had pretty young teams last year that gained experience. As any year, it will come down to pitching and the MVL lost some pretty darn good ones to graduation last year. I'll have to go back and to see who is returning to the mound. That will be the final determinant for my predictions. |

Isn't K. Green returning as a pitcher from varsity?

sorry for the oversight. for Sheridan, Green should be returning to pitch as well and Taylor Golden was on the roster last year also.

dont count out the scotties. they got a lot coming back and their guys have finally been under the coaches system and they know what he expects. they have a
good core of players. Ive seen them play and looks like they are gonna have a good 1-2 punch on the mound this year. expect big things.

They picked up a player, too, who might be a great addition. Watched him play a bit this fall, and he's got game.

Does anyone else know anything about the 2010 "Diamond Dawgs" baseball team?

1. Tri-Valley (lost some good players, but has a lot coming back, with a potentially great freshman class)
2. Philo 3. Sheridan ( has to rebuild from last year and losing good players, still has talent thought) 4. New Lex (losing talent, but still has plenty of it to make a run) 5. West M (only losing 1 senior) 6. John Glenn ( lost most of team) 7. Crooksville 8. Maysville ( lost two great players in Dunn and Butler) 9. Morgan |

they lost the sharrer boys, jordan ayres, jake strock, tj nichols, and brice mccarty, they started most games. they have wagner, reed, newsom, martin, lake,
bollinger and kilpatrick, but Reed and Wagner are the only two everyday position players back. a lot of questions but they have a lot of talent throughout the
program. will be interesting to see if some freshman can make the leep and play some varsity

Philo! Hands Down... I have to admit though! The MVL looks like it could get back to the Mid-Late 90's with TV and Philo dominating at the top every year
and sustaining that rivalry on the diamond with the current coaching staffs and talent surrouding the two programs...

Sorry Ginn, but they didn't dominate in 1996 because we (Maysville) won the MVL

maysville has a chance to be a good team in the future, not enough talent this year. but they now have a good coach who can make them a contender for years to
come

Who is Maysville's coach?

Is it Prati? If so, a good hire on their part.

I talked to Rides the other day and Prati got the job. He played at Muskingum right after I was done their. He stayed on and helped Thompson at Muskingum after
he graduated. He caught me in the alumni game..He is a good guy and he knows his stuff...Hopefully he can lead Maysville to some titles...And Damview we won
the MVL my junior against Morgan and that year we beat Tri Valley twice and my senior year we beat Philo in the Sectional finals...So there is two years for
sure that Philo didn't dominate...

Ace wrote:Ace, I will give you your props for 1996. You guys had a great team. In fact, you guys had a few good teams during that time period but couldn't get past TV in the north and seemed to underachieve with the talent you had. But like I said, I believe Philo-TV dominated during the 90's and early into the 2000's. If this isn't domination, then I don't know what is: MVL Baseball Champs
1990: Sheridan (vs. ?) 1991: Maysville (vs. ?) 1992: Tri-Valley (vs. ?) 1993: Philo (vs. Maysville) 1994: Philo (vs. Tri-Valley) 1995: Tri-Valley (vs. Philo) 1996: Maysville (vs. Morgan) 1997: Tri-Valley (vs. New Lex?) 1998: Tri-Valley (vs. Philo) 1999: Philo (vs. Tri-Valley) 2000: John Glenn (vs. Philo) 2001: Tri-Valley (vs. Philo) 2002: Philo (vs. Tri-Valley) FYI- The teams in ( ) are the losing teams that played in the championship game that year. I hate that the MVL now only has 9 teams and cannot break into divisions so we have a true champ. I hate that there can be co- and tri- champs. That just doesn't sound right and isn't right. I wish the MVL could come up with a solution other than just adding a team which would be the logical thing to do. I bet the coaches would agree with this sentiment. Let's settle it on the field. I am old school though.. Ace, I thought Frank the Tank was your catcher in the alumni game...... |
