final record....... 9-12

As long as we win a 1 game sectional and get to play in athens with an 8-13 record, all is well in thornville.

yea... standards have dropped some.
i say we'll start slow (then blame it on football of course).... then play better in 2nd round......then struggle in first tournament game. that's how it's went the last ???? years. |

This team will be better than the past couple of years. Not cause they have better basketball players but cause they're a better team. Jake Horsley will be
a star. Crane can shoot from anywhere and make it. Busby has really improved. This may be the year we compete with Tri-Valley

They have a very nice group of athletes. Could use Broc Wilkins if he'd come back out. This team will be better if Anthony doesn't have to play pg. I
think they will have a nice season.

I totally agree....I'd Love to see Broc play his senior season with this group. His true pg mentality could be the missing piece to help push these guys
over the hump. The thing I like about this group is that I don't think they will need to rely on 1 guy to have to go out and throw in 20 points every
night. There are at least 5 different players that have the potential to score 15-20 on any given night while staying within their game/roles. Also,
defensively...I think this group can get after it. We'll see how it turns out. But no doubt, Wilkins influence on the court could help this group this
year.

Cort - yes, Caleb - no, don't think so (winter baseball), Broc - unless a major change of mind occurs, no (however a few players are still trying to
persuade him).

No reason this group shouldn't be competing for a league title this year, along with JG and TV.

I, too, suspect the Generals to be a solid team.

Thanks newtransplant, Caleb is a very good baseball player, I'm going to love to see his name in the paper when baseball comes around. And as for Broc,
He's a heck of a cross country runner, How is he doing.

Broc is having a great senior year in cross country , he was the overall winner at the Morgan / Crooksville meet and has set new personal best times this year
at almost every meet . Hopefully he will again be all MVL and hopefully the team can repeat as MVL champs next weekend !

The MVL will be weak this year which should be a plus for Sheridan....However with same coaching philosophy...probably sames results as previous years. They
will have talent..though young....but years previous were talented as well. If you let them play the way they are capable they can win...but will that
happen...doubt it

Sheridan basketball won't succeed until 2 major things happen;
#1 - The fan base actually gets behind the team instead of downgrading the program/staff on a constant basis. Fans and players need to be willing to tolerate the same individual sacrifices to personal goals in the winter that is accepted in the fall. #2 - Realize that people now drive cars, Stockport is no longer a High School and the lane has been widened by 3'...... in other words its not 1930 and Sheridan High School has never been a "basketball" school that somehow now struggles under Lance Dupler. Case in point. Sheridan has existed for nearly 50 years and has 4 MVL titles, doubled up in back to back seasons [71,72 & 88,89]. With an average of less than 1 league title every decade of its existience, if this was a basketball school before Culver arrived it was a pitiful example of one. Accept it, Understand it and Get over it. The program will move on when this is done. "The rise of Idiot America ... is essentially a war on expertise ... In the new media age, everybody is a historian, or a scientist, or a preacher, or a sage. And if everyone is an expert, then nobody is, and the worst thing you can be in a society where everybody is an expert is, well, an actual expert." -- Charles P. Pierce |

#1 Sheridan was not a football school before Culver was hired... #2 Since Sheridan inception (1961) basketball team has only 4 titles has not been a basketball school is BS. Fans will support a team that is successful or not if the staff is making games fun to watch. can you honestly say that has been the case for years now??? Just because it has not won many MVl titles doesnt mean that it is acceptable. No titles+ no changes = same unexciteable games and seasons. We need to coach to our strengths....dictate tempo....and maybe wins instead of losses. Games become interesting...which brings support. |

From the outside, I'd say the perception is that in the 1960s Sheridan was forging an effort to continue the wonderful roundball tradition that had been
established in the communities of Somerset, Glenford and Thornville in the 1940s and 1950s.

Ssminnow, just curious but, what exact changes would you make for this coming year? This year's key personnel are known and let's assume no big changes
in skillsets from last year.
You can't pull a couple ballhandlers out of the hat. One solid outside shooter. Untested(and maybe very limited) bench. These can't be fixed for the upcoming year. Sheridan Plays a lot of zone defense all the way down through their program. This might be able to be fixed over time depending on personnel. Personally, I hate zone and don't even like to play it on inbounds under their basket. You only use it if you are physically out matched or to change tempo. I understand the recent Sheridan frustration but, recent teams have had a lot of flaws that go beyond coaching. This year's group has some real good skills but, some flaws as well. What would you realistically do? |
