Talk about Maysville right here.

Sadly, vollyball has come to an end. Nice season girls.
What does everyone think of the upcoming basketball season? I looks like they have some tough non-league games to go wtih an always difficult MVL season. I think they play River View, Zanesville, Meadowbrook and Alexander. |

In any other year Poorman would be POY in the MVL. With Luburgh this year it will be hard to wrestle it away from her.
Poorman, Vallie, McKee, Wells, Smith, Sidwell and Tatman. Solid top 7. Not much after that except two solid freshman who will dress varsity and maybe get in some blowout games. But that will be good for them next year. Maysville probably finishes #2 or #3 behind Tri-Valley. Sheridan/Maysville will be good games to watch. |

Scrimmage against Shenadoah went well. Poorman looked great. Others need to find a way to compliment her. Think they will. Miller has his work cut out for him.

I am glad the scrimmage went well. When is the next one and is it at home? Also, how did the reserves look? I know they are going to be pretty young.

Reserves will be solid. Couple of tall freshman that will play JV and dress varsity. Not this year but will contribute a lot next year after seniors move on
and they get one more year of experience. This is not a tall ball club but a very athletic group. Should push Tri-Valley but not overtake them this year but
probably the #1 returning team for 2010/2011.

Maysville looked good on Saturday at our scrimmage. Girls are starting to come together. It will take time to fold in some new faces but the sophs are working
hard and our juniors and seniors are solid. Great job ladies.

Some pretty good basketball played this weekend at Maysville. First time I have had the chance to see them play. Thought maybe the freshman might get a look
since there were some big teams. Overall I thought the ladies looked pretty solid. They sure are looking to run more since they lost all their post players
from last year. Rebounding might be an issue this season.

Girls looked pretty decent against a good Big Walnut team last night. I think they may have split the quarters. Reserves won their scrimmage.

Not that tall but the athleticism is outstanding. They can run, play solid defense and press. Poorman, Vallie, McGee, Wells and Company will do just fine.
Smith, Tatman and Sidwell support the upperclassman. Two tall freshmen will also help as the year goes on. Looking forward to the Foundation game. I'm
predicting a win.

Maysville dominated Foundation game. Won by 42. Nice job ladies!!!
Everyone looked good. First game against Riverview next Friday night! |

It looks like Hall may be out a few weeks with a broken finger. A very thin bench just got a little thinner.

Nice girl. Really too bad.
Not convinced she would have contributed this year but now we may not know for awhile. Agree the bench is thinner. The freshmen will need to step up. Thankfully our starting five and a couple bench players are very good. Go Big Cats!! |

They can't all be pretty, and Good teams win the ugly ones. The ladies showed character last night. Mckee and Sidwell played big post defense against a
tall front line for RV. Maysville is going to have to rebound as a team and account for everyone on boxouts. Most of RV's 26 points seemed to be off of 2nd
& 3rd chances.

Just left a post on the starting five thread.
Maysville will be just fine. All seven girls can contribute. A good win over Philo on Wednesday will straighten things out. |

Why was 5'5 McKee playing post defense when you have a 5'11 player, shouldn't she of been playing post defense before a guard? Alos, RV pretty much
didn't have anything but Olivia Neace and she scored 16, isn't she a post player? Sounds like Maysville might be a little thin at the post position.

BBall, you are correct in Maysvilles weakness. The problem is that all the true post players are young and learning there way on the reserve team. It might be
awhile before they are ready but hopefully they get a chance to prove themselves. McKee is very strong. While she lacks in height she makes up for it with
great effort and experience.

Doesn't player of the year candidate Poorman play any post? or at least help out defensively?

bball4evr your comment stings a little of jealousy. Almost like a crack against Poorman's defensive ability?
Melanie Poorman's all around game can play anywhere. Inside and out. While only a junior she is the leader of this team along with Vallee. The two of them will have this team ready to go on Wednesday against Philo. And Philo is very strong on the inside so this will be a good test for all the girls. |

No bbal4evr is only helping coach Miller with strategic basketball things. Like how tall people are. You have no idea what any player on Maysville does or does not do so don't try to lead people to believe you do. Is the forum a weapon for jealous people or a place to talk basketball and other sports? Don't slander other kids because of your frustrations. That's really what this is all about, isn't it.

Poorman is very solid defensively. She can stay with anybody. It was simply a match-up that Miller thought Mckee could handle. For the most part she did. Every
point Neace got was pretty hard earned.
