Talk about West M right here.

This is going to be pretty young team. Who are going to be the starters? Are any freshman expected to move up?

Six returning letter winners. No need for freshman to move up. Only one senior. Yes the team is very young. New coach. Time will tell.

luvinbball, there isn't expected to be a freshman team so, all the freshmen will play JV ball. While there are around 7 freshmen expected to suit up (and
enough for a team), there isn't enough for a JV team without moving them up. I wouldn't expect any of the freshmen to push for varsity playing time
this year.

Have been told that the report out of West Holmes and Cambridge scrimmage was mixed. Good in spots and lots of work to do in others. Probably where a young
team like this should be at this time of the year. Source told me that the pieces of the puzzle are there but it might take awhile to put everything together.

Those are two pretty good teams to scrimmage against. Might not see that tough of opponent except for Tri - Valley all year.

New coaching staff always takes time. Middle of the pack in 09. Who is the next scrimmage against?

Any results from Saturday's scrimmage?

West won the majority I believe.

The Saturday scrimmages against Orange and New Philly were mixed. I would say that they won the majority against New Philly but not against Orange. The losses
to both were close. Orange is young but has some players, no surprise that TV handled them easily.
Scrimmage last Monday against Shenandoah was good. The girls won 4 out of 5 qtrs. This team must come to play each night if they are going to have success, they have talent it is just young. They could beat some good teams if they come to play, but also may lose some games they are expected to win. Starters...Nutter(jr),Winland(so),Graham(so),Imes(so),Collins(jr) Bench....Thomas(lone senior),Ware(so),Glass(jr), Mitchell(jr) This team will have a "New Look" in a lot of ways, when they by into the system they will have success. Will be interesting to see how they play tomorrow night in the Foundation game. JV at 6p, Varsity at 7:30p |

With the West M 8th grade class dominating the way they have...any talk of them playing an abbreviated Freshman schedule? That would be a nice step up for
those girls.

Cant. Jr High teams cannot practice, play or participate with Freshman or above.

Seems like a dumb rule. Any idea why???
What about when OJ Mayo played on Varsity as a 8th grader? Of course that may have been in WV and they may have different rules. "If practice makes perfect, and no one is perfect, why
practice?" |

Sounds like an athletic starting line-up for the ladies with a little depth thrown in for good measure. I'd expect this group to be pretty decent
defensively and take some time to catch up offensively. If they can get some scoring from all spots on the floor, I'd expect some pretty good success once
the buy-in occurs. This group should be exciting when they're playing team ball.
Bludevil, no OJ Mayos in the 8th grade group. Maybe one that will have a chance to contribute at the varsity level as a freshman and two as sophomores. I'm not conviced that more than a couple of the 8th grade group will overtake the current freshman group before it's all done. I do think Mayo played varsity as an 8th grader in Kentucky. Probably was well paid for it given his history. Had to have been a violation of child labor laws. |

How did the Foundation game go against Rosecrans?
|
|||
stormwatcher |

The West girls defeated Rosecrans in the Foundation game, I think by about 12 points. Much of the same that has been seen during the scrimmages, periods of
very good play followed by a period of mistake after mistake. Shooting percentage for West was very low as they missed many easy shots. To be fair Rosecrans
was w/o Rittburger and Westerhite as well as a couple other girls.
Final scrimmage tonight against Granville and Fisher Catholic. |

How did the JV team look?

Stormwatcher had did fisher catholic do? Granville should be good with lots of their players back.

West won all the qtrs they played last night. By far the best outing of the scrimmages. Easily defeated Fisher Catholic all 3 qtrs and only one qtr against
Granville was close(a 1 point win). Fisher Catholic is not very good and as I understand it is very young. Granville showed signs of being very good but looked
like they are still finding there way. They lost their leaders from last year and it showed at times last night. They will be very good by mid-season.

Sounds like our ladies have made good progress since playing Granville up there during their summer league.
Keep up the hard work! |

Up by 15 late in the game against Morgan and then almost lose the game? What happened?
Not a lot of postings out there on West M this year. Pretty quiet. What is the scoop? |
