Tri Valley against Youngstown Boardman and OSU recruit Daryce Moore at the Classic in the Country in January.

Should be a fun, fun season. The Boardman game should give TV a taste of what D1 basketball is all about. I will be interested to see if the girls improved
during the offseason. I know they worked hard during the summer. Can't wait to see if it pays off. The Big 3 are back and are surrounded by a nice
supporting cast.

Everybody knows the BIG THREE. What do they have after that? Some folks have said it is pretty thin. I find that hard to believe. Who are the other two
starters and who comes off the bench? With the BIG THREE they don't need much.

But the top D1 teams have a full FIVE, so that's a very valid question.

Agreed. That's why it will be a tough go come tournament time, but one thing is for sure. The team will scrap and play hard regardless of who they play.
Their coach won't allow it the other way.

That's a given!
Wish the bean-counters had missed a few "heads" last year. This would be a virtual lock for the D2 final four. And one thing we know for sure at ZHS -- you get no respect when you get assigned to the Central District. Hope to see the Lady Scotties this year. We took a hiatus in our series so Marty could add some "preparation" games to his schedule (though the Lady Devils should be pretty doggone good this year). Series is supposed to resume next season. |

It's truly a shame that the powers of the OHAA don't have the resources or time to do a head count each year in all sports, both boy and girls .
Really talk about an injustice, count every year , everyone can live with being over or under the wire , if in fact they actually are. Locking for two years is
totally wrong , ( just for convenience)

We know that at Zanesville. We got bumped to D1 (and we think the count may have been wrong), so we were stuck there for two years in virtually every sport
when our enrollment during those two years was clearly UNDER the break point for D1. But that's what it was, and I think we were still rather competitive
anyway.
The OHSAA could do the recount every year. They take the counts from the state DOE's annual attendance tracking numbers. I think they just got tired of going through the process every year (remember, they have to do this for EVERY sport, though I can't imagine it's that difficult in any sport other than football, where you have to re-set regions). Still -- it can be done. The problem with TV, though, is that such a count THIS year wouldn't take effect until NEXT year anyway. |

Others to take note of - Junior, Katie Mauer (Nice all around player both inside and out but will spend most of her time at off gaurd. She will run the point
when Miller needs a rest), Senior Jessica Moyer (perimeter player with decent fundamentals), junior Alex Lawler (a big inside girl with some decent size and
rebounding skills) and a junior that is one heck of a softball player and an all around athlete . . her name escapes me.
TV should have a solid starting 5 and 2 - 3 more decent players coming off the bench. One thing is for certain. They will be sound fundamentally and play tough, tough defense. |

Nice. Anytime you can get the college $$$, it's a good thing.

Congrats to the Big Three. If you get a chance to watch them this year you should do it. How often does a team from SEO have 3 college players on it? Not
often. Can't see them losing in the MVL unless Maysville, Sheridan or Morgan surprise them on an off night for the Big Three. Hopefully their game at the
Classic in the Country will help prepare these young ladies for a move towards State.

I heard that they crushed Olentangy Orange earlier but have not heard any results since.

TV played in a 7 team scrimmage over the weekend up in Akron/Canton. 4 Div 1 teams, 2 Div 2 teams and one Div 3 team were present. The teams they played were
both big and athletic. TV won all games but one. The only loss came via a buzzer beater. I like that TV played a tough summer and preseason schedule against
talented Div 1 schools. Hopefully this will prepare them for the tourney.

You are correct Skills. Courtney is a nice athelete that due to her dedication to softball spends little time in the offseason on basketball. Look for her to
get better day by day, game by game and for her to be a key contributor later in the season.
