Hate to see the CHS-Maysville series continuing. Hopefully with new schools, the ECOL will reevaluate who plays whom. There is no such thing as a Transitive Property in high school football.

Teams like Licking Valley, Granville, or maybe Licking Heights. Normally these teams will always have winning records. Even if you loose against one of these teams you will get more points than winning against an 0-10 team.

Lakewood wanted it. Home even years, away odd years. Folks need to remember that a lot of schools will not play Sheridan. Since Licking Valley, has any week 1 opponent played Sheridan more than 2 years? chimmy, check on week 1 if you get a chance. highschoolsports.net has Athens playing Gallia week 1 in 2010. Albany Alexander near Athens is hunting for a week 1 game. Might be them. As far as Coshocton, Maysville has them 3 more years. Last year when they played, it was a one year deal outside the MVL-ECOL deal. If the deal continues after 2012, Maysville is likely to get RiverView or Meadowbrook.

A loss, and the only points you pick up are from teams that you have already beaten picking up wins. Think of it in its simplest form- you would come closer to making the play-offs by being 10-0 against ten 0-10 teams. You would have zero Harbin points if you went 0-10 against ten 10-0 teams.

The way it appears is that you don't get any points the entire season from a team you have a loss two. No level 1 or level 2 points from that team, is that correct? If so how is Indian Creek at 5-4 gaining so many level 2 points, and sitting as an 8 seed. I don't get it.

Look at the theme about Harbin points I posted a couple weeks ago. It is likely on page 2 or 3. Harrison Central and St. Charles are both 5-4 and will make the playoffs if they win in week 10. St. Charles might even make it if they lose. That is because the teams they BEAT have good records. For instance, if Tri-Valley had beat Dover, along with wins over West M and Sheridan, they could have lost to 5 or 6 of the other teams and still likely been in the playoffs. Beating teams that win 8 or 9 games gives you a lot of Level 2 points. If a league's goal was to put as many teams in the playoffs as possible, then the teams would make a pact to only play non-league opponents they can beat. Let's say the league champ plays an 0-10 non-league team, since the other 8 teams also won their non-league game, there are more L2 points for the teams with winning records in your league. The problem arises if you play an 0-10 team and the other league teams are not winning their non-league games.

The game to watch would be TV away. JG was the last to beat this senior group in the 2nd game of their 7th grade yr. since then noone has even come close. Lakewood will be just as good team to play as I think Belaire would have been and about 2 hours closer. The schedule looks good for a run to make some history next yr.

I know Sheridan can not afford a bye week since they start slow. However, assuming Lakewood wins one game, wouldn't that bring their points average down using the Harbin system?

It's not like you just pick up the phone and play who ever you decide to call. Scheduling is difficult. I don't know the situation with Sheridan, but I would be suprised if they sought out a game with Lakewood. My guess is it was their last resort. I really think that living is the process of going from complete certainty to complete ignorance. Richard Dreyfuss
