Just curious does anyone have any family or friends stationed at Ft. Hood? Any stories coming out of there from them?

There is a piece on WHIZ about a Zanesville grad stationed there and was in the building at the time of the attack.

I have a nephew that use to be there, but no longer is. I also believe that a good friend was there for many years, but haven't been able to confirm that.

I want to give CNN and MSNBC a little lesson.
If the guy was a muslim. That means he was Islamic, If the guy shot 31 people, he inflicted terror on the base at Fort Hood. So if 1 + 1 = 2 This is an ISLAMIC TERRORIST. |

I think just a simple case of someone not wanting to be deployed overseas. He just took it way too far. If he didn't want to go then why did he join the
military in the first place. What a coward. We are not talking about a kid here either....this is a 39 year old man.

He should be executed by a firing squad, IMO. We have turned in to a country full of politically correct babies, make an example of this idiot.

political correctness is a tragedy I like the fact that the hero who stopped him was a female officer. Ever father in the country should take his teenage daughter out for target practice when she turns 12 or 13. We need more women in this country to carry guns for protection. |

He makes my list as a dangerous idiot but assuming he is a terrorist without the facts is xenophobia at work, IMO. His heritage might make him Muslim but that
doesn't make him a terrorist. Yes, get those girls out there with target practice, and arrest all Americans with German heritage. They have to be fascist
by nature. Also, deport all Irish-Americans. They booze too much.

Perhaps Loumoon could print stories of the female officer being referred to (by a man) as an "extraordinary individual" rather than a spunky little
lady and let her class read that as an example that there may actually be some hope for them to be judged on their actions.

It looks like he tried to reach out to AlQaeda per ABC News.
Something tells me there is more to come out. You don't have to know Osama Bin Laden. You can grab a gun and stand on a table. Shoot 31 people. Kill 12 people. And you are just as much a terrorist as any AlQaeda member in pakistan ever was. You could be a christian, a muslim, a hindu. But this guy was reportedly yelling Allah Akbar. the message is clear here |

It really doesn't make any difference how you label him all those people are dead. I doubt very seriously he was part of some sort wider al-quaeda
conspiracy, probably just an unhinged soldier who slipped through the cracks. I'm sure if there is a real connection we will soon find out.

People of the Islamic religion degrade women in the middle east on a daily basis. Women are property of their husbands in places like Iran. In Saudi Arabia,
women are not allowed to work. Women are sodomized and stoned as punished for adultry on a regular basis.
The policy of the United States does nothing to help these women. . I am not willing to extend a hand until women in the middle east have their rights. The fist that needs unclinched is radical Islam. Not the entire religion. but radical Islam. Until then. We are just making deals with the slave master and not freeing the slaves. I think it is justice that a woman shot this guy. and I think it will be justice when we someday elect a female President.

So what policy changes would you like to see made regarding this treatment of women, towards which countries? How would these changes help these women. Be
specific no broad statements of blame, but specific actions and policies, along with the justification for, and cost of, each.

Women in Afganistan are able to go to school now.
But we will not be able to go to war with every Arab country in the whole world. Thats just not logical. and not something I support. I think we need to press the human rights issue in the middle east more than we are. One issue I would like to see addressed is Palestinian women. The United States should not support any kind of Palestinian state until these people change their position on civil rights. They need to apologize for their mistakes too. |

Let him to experience justice under the laws of the military or Texas---whoever has jurisdiction but let's make sure that innocent Muslim-Americans who
have no part of the radical element are not blamed by association. Yes, there are terrorists everywhere.

right, right, right, right, right.
There is nothing intended to be stereotypical or racial about what im trying to say. I am talking about radical Islam. not all Muslims. it is almost like the fear of discrimination and racism is so great that you are walking on egg shells trying to give your opinions in this country. |

Under article 118 of the UCMJ, he should have a courts martial trial, and once found guilty the punishment is the death penalty. His religion, race or anything
else isn't even a factor it is what it is. Keep the media locked out, have the trial, and kill him. Then stop giving his cousin his 15 minutes of fame as
well. This should be done in about 15 seconds.

I appreciate those words in terms of reaching justice but any notion of completely locking the media out will only have a backlash of various rumors and
hear-say. As much as the media on the far left AND right are bothersome, locking them out is the type of process that is seen in closed societies around the
world. Dictatorships and societies controlled by an elite groups never allow a free press.

This whole episode makes me wonder just how this thing could have been possibly prevented if the military (and USA in general) was not so overly concerned with political correctness. He would have, and should have, been more aggressively investigated had he not been Arab and of the Muslim religion. |

Yes, I wonder about the chain-of-command and how perhaps those in charge were attempting to be politically correct. Walking on egg shells around groups of
people can be as dangerous as typing members of a group into one box. I imagine we will learn more about this matter. In general, it seems to me that
institutions and organizations tend to be sensitive to dealing with ethnic, religious and other categories of minorities while informal sectors of individuals
in our society tend to use harsh and insensitive stereotypes about minorities. Per usual, both extremes are wrong, IMO. Regardless of the man's psychology,
or even his sociology, he should be dealt with as an individual who has committed murder. His consequences should be reaped based on his behavior not for any
images of what we believe he has in his head.

excerpt from NPR morning edition
"Also on Morning Edition, NPR's Daniel Zwerdling reported that some of Hasan's fellow psychiatrists colleagues found him to be detached, unproductive and sometimes hostile. And, Daniel has learned that at least one official at Walter Reed Army Medical Center wanted to remove Hasan from the residency program there -- but that supervisors had not adequately documented his alleged deficiencies and could not take such administrative action full story http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/ A celibate clergy is an especially good idea, because it tends to suppress any hereditary propensity toward fanaticism.
